The history of Reiki as we know it goes back to the times of the teachings
of the Buddha and the ancient secrets of the Taoist Masters of China and
Asia who were aware of the cosmic and spiritual forces of energy and how
it impacted on the physical, emotional, and mental bodies of hu-man and
knew the source of all disease was spiritual in nature.
Dr.usui knew this knowledge as he had qi-gong to a high level and by the
age of 27 years old had converted to shintoism from the tendai sect and
pursued further knowledge in medicine, history, psychology, shiisen jutsu
and the religions of the world. In 1918 Dr Usui began training as a Zen
Buddhist and by 1922 having not achieved enlightenment and felt that he
wasn’t succeeding he asked his Zen master what to do, and the answer he
received was “die one time”. This motivated him to fast until he either
died or became “enlightened”. Thus in march distraught with his life he
went and fasted on Mt.Kurama for 21 days and it is said a bright light came
from the heavens and entered into Dr Usui revealing to him the symbols,
the wisdom and knowledge of the true nature of god consciousness and thus
acquired the healing ability which he called Reiki Ryoho (universal light
healing energy) or or as some translated it to be “the atmosphere of the
divine.” This transformed Dr Usui who taught Reiki through out Japan for
the rest of his life and attuned up to 16 teachers before his transition
in 1926.
One of these being Dr Hyashi, a retired Naval Officer who developed the
attunement process and the three levels of reiki and started to document
the healing powers and abilities reiki brings until the beginning of world
war 2 when he chose to leave his body (Masters can do that) rather than
be redrafted into the Japanese navy.
So in order that the knowledge would not be lost he initiated Hawayao Takata
to Master level in Hawaii in the winter of 1938, she was the 13th and last
reiki master he initiated. It was through Takata reiki came to the west
as she initiated 22 Reiki Masters before her transition in 1980 and she
left the title of grand master to 2 people, Phyllis Furamato her grand daughter
who was initially reluctant to take on such a high office and Barbara Ray
who developed the Usui system into 7 levels and expanded the knowledge she
wished to share and taught in the use of Reiki healing.
Thus today there are many Reiki masters about the world the traditional
Usui teachers, the reiki alliance a group of independent reiki masters and
the reiki radiance developed by Barbara ray and the reiki hands and feet
developed by Richard Prasham Fewster. For me Reiki has been a constant companion
and help in my path to Enlightenement and Wisdom.Not only is it a step into
meditation it is also a direct transmission of the divine as sacred and
bliss. I started learning to chanel light from my hands in my early 20's
by invoking the inner hierachy of masters and angels to assist in the wakening
of the planet to our cosmic Christ hearts and the flames of light and healing.For
5 years i learned to meditate and serve the inner hierachy to heal the planet
and awaken humanity to the power of the healing light rays of God in a church
called the church of shantara based in Melbourne Australia. After i left
the church i learnt more meditations and completed my studies and then went
off to India and lived and studied at Osho's ashram and learnt Reiki from
Rama Condori in Pune India and developed the Reiki hands and feet system
with other Reiki practitioners in Pune.
Haveing become a Reiki master in india 1990 i headed off to Europe excited
to have found something i could use to share my knowledge of light healing,
hands on healing and the gift of meditation plus i ahd the experience of
running self development groups thru running church youth groups and leadership
groups and participating in therapy groups such as rebirthing, psychodrama
and my career in the corporate world working in personnel. From India i
travelled to Europe and lived in England and Gemany running Reiki groups
and travelling around seeing the sites and makeing new friends. This was
a powerful time for me and i was doing exactly what i always dreamed of
wanting to do teaching and helping others to heal in a more wholeistic philosophy
behind it thanks to my teachers and gurus Shantara and Osho and my experience
in the personal development field.
What i loved about Reiki is it so pure so sacred and really so easy to teach
and it s like switching a light on in people to the realisation and experience
oof the rays of light that transcends the mind and is pure love bliss energy
and chanels thru you regardless of what condition you are in or what you
have done in the past. In 1992 i returned to Australia and immediately started
attuning and teaching my friends Reiki hands and feet and setup a healing
centre called mevlana the following year with other healers to teach meditation
and Reiki hands and feet in StKilda, Melbourne Australia. For 7 years i
taught trained and helped heal people looking for a more natural way of
healing and personal transformation, and i am constantly amazed at the beatifull
and powerful changes Reiki hands and feet made to peoples lives and there
own personal healing they gained from learning how to meditate properly
and chanel healing energy. So Reiki hands and feet is well established in
Australia and now has many teachers and students all over Australia and
New Zealand sharing the sacredness and knowledge Reiki can give the ernest
student of the heart. In 1999 i had a little boy and now teach and practice
from home in coburg near Melbourne Australia and have produced these Reiki
hands and feet books to help those all over the world keen to learn this
sacred art of Healing. !
